Call issued for 2005 Diversity Award nominees
The AAOS Diversity Committee has issued a call for nominations for the 2005 Diversity Award. The quickly approaching deadline for submitting nominations is Sept. 1, 2004.
This award recognizes Academy fellows who have distinguished themselves through their outstanding commitment to making orthopaedics more representative of and accessible to the diverse population it serves. Diversity will continue to be important in orthopaedics. This award is presented annually and the honoree receives a $5,000 donation to be used in achieving greater diversity in orthopaedics.
Healthcare delivery should not be affected by race, creed, or gender. Moving forward, our goal is to bring people together by opening minds and doors to a new world of opportunities and possibilities. .All Academy fellows in good standing are eligible for the award.
The 2005 award will be the third Diversity Award presented to an AAOS fellow. Nominations can come from Academy fellows, or candidate members eligible for fellowship, as well as from orthopaedic residents who have directly benefited from the activities of the nominee.
