Fellows to travel overseas to conduct review courses
Ten Academy fellows traveled to Rio de Janeiro in July to conduct
an Orthopaedic Review Course for more than 300 Brazilian and Argentine
orthopaedic surgeons. In November, the Academy will conduct a
similar review course in Cairo, Egypt in a cooperative effort
with the Egyptian Orthopaedic Association. All expenses for the
July course were fully funded by the Brazilian Society for Orthopaedics
and Traumatology (SBOT). "The enthusiasm and responsiveness
of course participants was excellent, and our Brazilian hosts
outdid themselves to make us feel welcome," said course chairman
Joseph P. Leddy, MD. This course was the culmination of
a year-long planning and organizational effort between the Academy's
International Committee and SBOT.
