August 1999 AAOS Report
Join AAOS in America Walks for Strong Women
It's still not too late for AAOS members and their patients in Denver to sign up for the Aug. 28 America Walks for Strong Women walk at City Park to raise funds for osteoporosis research. This National Osteoporosis Foundation (NOF) event also will have a health fair, where the Academy will feature an exhibit displaying posters, brochures and fact sheets on osteoporosis and hip fracture prevention. AAOS member Laura L. Tosi, MD, is spearheading the Sept. 18 walk in Washington, D.C. The Academy is working with the Tennessee Orthopaedic Society for the Nashville walk, Sept. 11, and the Texas Orthopaedic Association for the Houston walk, Sept. 25. AAOS Executive Vice President William W. Tipton Jr., MD, is encouraging local orthopaedists and their patients to participate in these fund raisers. For more information about participating in a walk, contact Diane Albrecht, NOF, (202) 223-2226, or by e-mail, dianea@mail.nof.org.
