At each walk, NOF will hold a health fair which will be open to the general public as well as the walkers. The Academy will have an educational booth at the health fairs, where the public can pick up Academy patient education brochures. The Academy is seeking local physician volunteers to staff the educational booth at each walk. The Academy also is asking fellows to participate in the walks. "This is your chance as orthopaedic surgeons to increase public awareness of osteoporosis as well as your role in this disease process," said William W. Tipton Jr., MD, AAOS executive vice president.
