Art show celebrates Bone and Joint Decade
It is art with feeling, art with memories of coping with disorders, art that expresses the joy of living.
It’s the paintings, sculpture, photos and weavings on display at the AAOS’s eMotion Pictures: An Exhibition of Orthopaedics in Art at the Herbst International Exhibition Hall in San Francisco in San Francisco until March 20. The show, which overlapped the AAOS Annual Meeting, celebrates the Bone and Joint Decade. It tells how orthopaedic surgeons and their patients deal with musculoskeletal disorders—their pain and their happiness of overcoming a disability.
The 173 pieces on display were chosen by a panel of judges from more than 1,400 submissions from artists representing 11 countries and 33 states. The award winners were:
Best of Show

The eMotion Pictures art show will be on display in the Russell Senate Office Building, Washington, D.C. April 23-27, 2001. The display was made possible by an educational grant from Wyeth-Ayerst. The AAOS also received support for eMotion Pictures from Medtronic Sofamor Danek, Zimmer, Inc. and Smith & Nephew.
