Privacy guidance
The Department of Health and Human Services issued on July 6, 2001 the first of several guidance documents for the medical privacy regulation that went into effect on April 14, 2001. The privacy rules go into effect April 14, 2003. The guidance document is at the HHS Office for Civil Rights web site at http://www.hhs.gov/ocr/hipaa
