The mission of the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons and
the Orthopaedic Surgeons of America is to mutually promote, through
education, research and communication, the highest quality musculoskeletal
health.
The American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons and the Orthopaedic
Surgeons of America will continue to be organizations providing
high quality programs that advance musculoskeletal health and
cost-effective care. These programs will remain responsive to
the needs of health care professionals and the public in a rapidly
changing environment and will continue to be provided and communicated
to them in innovative, ethical and fiscally responsible ways.
The ideal care of the patient with musculoskeletal problems is
provided through a team approach comprised of orthopaedists and
other providers of health care, working collaboratively to coordinate
patient care and to provide the highest standards of professional
and ethical behavior. Each provider should participate in a way
which maximizes the quality and ethical cost-effectiveness of
the services provided.
