The Health Care Financing Administration (HCFA) has proposed revised payment rates for ambulatory surgical centers (ASC), resulting in an average reduction of 2 percent, but includes higher reimbursement rates for arthroscopic surgery and carpal tunnel release.
The proposed rule, published in the Federal Register June 12, 1998, becomes effective October 1, 1998.
