Academy program garners second place in online CME competition

The eHealthcare Institute has honored the AAOS online CME program "Ankle Injuries in Athletes" with a second place award in its 2002 online CME competition. One of 48 entries, the winning program was developed by course chairman Richard D. Ferkel, MD, and Robin Facer, AAOS CME course manager.
"The Institute cited the program for the way it is organized into three modulesexpert opinion, cases and literature review," reports Howard Mevis, director of the Academys electronic media, evaluation & course operations department.
This organizational concept was developed in 1999 by a project team led by William A. Grana, MD, when he was a member of the Academys educational programming committee. Dr. Grana subsequently became editor of Orthopaedic Knowledge Online.
The "Ankle Injuries in Athletes" online CME program has garnered excellent program evaluations from registrants since it was added to the AAOS Web site in August 2002. To access the course, visit the AAOS Web site (www.aaos.org), click on "Medical Education" and select "Online CME Courses."
"Next year," Mevis declares, "were aiming for the top prize!"
