Annual Meeting
The latest additions are the abstracts of all the scientific papers to be presented at the Annual Meeting in San Francisco Feb. 28-March 4, 2001. Click on the "Annual Meeting" button on the home page to find the abstracts. In the coming weeks, more abstracts will be added.
Free web site template
The "Whats New" button on the home page will lead you to information on how to build your own physician web site for your practice. Youll be able to display your name and photo, educational background, board certification, focus and affiliation. Your web site can include your address and office hours, a street map showing your location and insurance plans accepted.
Product catalog
If youre looking for publications, CD-ROMs, videotapes, audiotapes or CME courses, you can find it through links from a special button, "Product Catalog" on the home page.
CME
You can find information on CME courses and online exams in this always-current section.
Research
This section is packed with information about research awards, research fellowship and funding opportunities, research publications and advocacy efforts. Youll find information about the Burden of Musculoskeletal Conditions, clinical guidelines and policies and NIH/AAOS workshops.
Library/Archives
The abstracts and articles of the Journal of the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons are here. The abstracts are available in English for all articles published since 1993. Abstracts are available in multiple foreign languages for articles since 1997. The contents of the Bulletin magazine and the AAOS Report since July 1995 also can be read and downloaded. The library contains AAOS policies and Annual Meeting information from 1996.
Member Services
Membership information, Bylaws and membership directories are in this section. A private directory which you can access using your AAOS identification number contains member information with e-mail addresses, if known. This section also includes a password protected Placement Service.
Health Policy
Keep watch on the "Current Washington Scene." The AAOS staff is reviewing the just-released final regulations on physician self-referral, commonly known as the Stark II provisions, and will post its analysis here. A password-protected section will allow fellows to view health policy and other related issues. The "Federal health Policy" section includes a Model Compliance Plan.
Board of Councilors
Every spring the Board of Councilors meets for the National Orthopaedic Leadership Conference in Washington, D.C. to visit with their legislators on Capitol Hill and to discuss issues concerning orthopaedists and their patients. Youll find the Councilors "hot topics" in this section.
