Academy public outreach programs honored

Two outstanding Academy public outreach programs have been recognized with national awards of excellence.

"eMotion Pictures: An Exhibition of Orthopaedics in Art" received awards in two competitions:

• Global Award - The Best in Healthcare Communication Worldwide for Best Consumer Public Relations Materials. Presented by the New York Festivals in October 2001.
• Mercury Awards - Honoring Excellence in Public Relations and Corporate Communications Worldwide. Presented by MerComm, Inc., in November 2001.

The Safe, Accessible Playground program, which utilizes Academy volunteers to build play grounds that are safe and accessible to all children, even those with disabilities, was also recognized:
