
The Bone and Joint CampA Media Adventure, held in New York City April 7, officially launched the AAOS national prevention of injury programPrevent Injuries America!
The event highlighted the role of orthopaedic surgeons in caring for athletes of all ages. Forty-five media representatives attended the all-day event that featured presentations by orthopaedic surgeons and mini-clincs on various sports. The Bone and Joint Camp was co-hosted by the AAOS and American Orthopaedic Society for Sports Medicine.
Special guests included Eric Heiden, MD, Olympic Gold Medal Speed Skater and Assistant Professor of Orthopaedic Surgery at the University of California at Davis, School of Medicine; and Julie Gilchrist, MD, medical epidemiologist at the National Center for Injury Prevention and Control, Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC).
