Councilors adopt 3 resolutions
The Board of Councilors, meeting May 2 in Washington, D.C., adopted
three resolutions as advisories to the Academy's Board
of Directors. The resolutions are:
- Workforce study of senior orthopaedic surgeons. Resolved that
the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons shall, through its
biennial census process, gather information regarding recent or
anticipated retirement and/or career path changes for orthopaedic
surgeons, possibly for use in determining appropriate orthopaedic
workforce projections.
- Education for musculoskeletal population care management.
Resolved that the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons
shall develop a process to coordinate the education of its membership
and the American public about musculoskeletal health management
in various population groups.
- Education for medical malpractice issues. Resolved that the
American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons shall identify a single
important malpractice issue each year as a focus for membership
and public education efforts.
