• Your Orthopaedic Connection, the AAOS Patient Education Webs ite received the 2002 Standard of Excellence Award from the Web Marketing Association. Your Orthopaedic Connection wins 2002 WebAward Standard of Excellence. A panel of independent Internet experts credited YOC’s "very comprehensive information from a respected source." The award was announced October 1 at New York’s Internet World, the leading and longest running business-to-business technology event. • The Academy’s television public service announcement (PSA), Geri-Hatricks, was a finalist for an Emmy award in the 2001 Community Service PSA category.
• Kathleen M. Niesen, AAOS manager of scientific programs, was named 2002 Planner of the Year by the Chicago Chapter of Meeting Professionals International. The award is given annually to an individual that exemplifies industry contributions, leadership and professionalism.
• Lawrence E. Rosenthal, PhD, Deputy Executive Vice President of the Academy, was elected to the national Board of Directors of the American Association of Medical Society Executives.
