Make coding easier for your staff by ordering orthopaedic CODE X - the only coding software specifically designed for orthopaedic surgeons.
CODE X is a CD-ROM program developed by the Academy that assigns any of the four coding references - CPT, ICD-9-CM, AAOS Complete Global Service Data for Orthopaedic Surgery and relative work value units - to a procedure for billing purposes.
The software program, compatible to PC and Macintosh computers, allows orthopaedic staff to search for an ICD or CPT code by typing in a key word or phrase; search for an ICD code by only providing the beginning of a code; and cross-reference CPT and ICD codes in order to get a list of ICD codes that most often are used with a specific CPT code. Office staff even can enter their own key phrases and words to develop a customized coding database.
Orthopaedic surgeons who want to test CODE X can check the Academy's home page in the "Education Resources Catalog" section. In this section, the Academy has set up a guided tour of the CODE X program for anyone interested in the mechanics of the CD-ROM.
