April 2004 AAOS Report
AAOS launches expert witness program
AAOS officially unveiled the Expert Witness Program at the 2004 Annual Meeting. Created in response to the membership's concerns, this program will include education, advocacy and potentially, disciplinary components. The Expert Witness Program will be responsible for developing articles on expert witness issues, monitoring the activities of other national medical associations, operating the AAOS Expert Witness Affirmation Statement program (details to come) and maintaining the Expert Witness Testimony Clearinghouse Project-a compilation of court testimony and depositions that may be accessed by fellow members or their attorneys upon request. Members are invited to submit testimony to the AAOS Expert Witness Program coordinator. The newly hired coordinator of the project is Kathleen Delaney, who can be reached by e-mail at firstname.lastname@example.org.
