Fellow testifies on HCFA practice expense issue
On March 28, Academy fellow Jerry E. Enis, MD testified before a Senatorial field hearing in Miami, Fla. about the Health Care Financing Administration's (HCFA) proposal to revise the practice expense component of the Medicare fee schedule. In his testimony, Dr. Enis stressed the Academy's objections to HCFA's proposed resource-based practice expense system. Earlier in the month, a representative from the Practice Expense Coalition (the Academy is co-chair of the coalition) testified on the same subject before the Subcommittee on Health of the House Ways and Means Committee in Washington, D.C. Testimony in hearings before the Subcommittee on Health and Environment of the House Commerce Committee also are likely to be scheduled by the coalition.
