April 1999 AAOS Report
Changes coming in AAOS dues statement
When the 1999-2000 annual dues statement arrives in the mail in early May, fellows will be asked to make their check payable to the American Association of Orthopaedic Surgeons (Association). This new procedure results from amendments to the Academy bylaws approved by the fellowship at the 1999 annual business meeting. Members now hold a single and indivisible membership in both the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons (Academy) and the Association. There also will be a separate solicitation asking Association fellows to contribute to the new Political Action Committee of the American Association of Orthopaedic Surgeons (Orthopaedic PAC) to assist in its advocacy efforts.
Also, starting with the 1999 annual dues statement, members will have
the opportunity to pay online through the AAOS web site at www.aaos.org
in the "Member Services" section. Payment online can be made
by credit card-American Express, Visa or MasterCard. Payments by credit card on the AAOS home page are encrypted and securely transferred to the web site. After the credit card has been processed, the computer screen will display a receipt that can be printed if a permanent record of the transaction is needed. Additional instructions on how to pay online will be provided on the back of the dues invoice.
