August 2000 AAOS Report
AAOS to receive ASAE award for safe playground
At its annual meeting in Orlando, Fla., from Aug. 12 to 15, the American Society of Association Executives (ASAE) will honor AAOS with a Summit Award for its Safe, Accessible Playground Building Program. The Summit Award is ASAE's highest level of recognition. Only eight winners were selected for this honor from hundreds of programs submitted this past year to the Associations Advance America (AAA) Awards. Earlier this year, AAOS was informed that it was one of 15 organizations to receive an Award of Excellence in the 2000 Associations Advance America (AAA) Awards. These 15 excellence awards were chosen from more than 130 entries submitted by associations and industry suppliers nationwide. All Awards of Excellence winners are automatically entered in the running for the 2000 Summit Awards. Now in its 10th year, the AAA Awards recognize associations that provide innovative programs in education, skills training, standards-setting, business and social innovation, knowledge creation, citizenship and community service.
