Annual Meeting speaker, Extended Program announced

Plans are underway for the Academy's 1999 Annual Meeting, Feb. 4-8, 1999, in Anaheim, Calif. Academy President James D. Heckman, MD, has invited award-winning author Maya Angelou to be the presidential guest speaker on Friday, Feb. 5. This year's meeting also will feature a revised format of the Spouse/Guest Program-called the Extended Program. Now, all meeting attendees can enjoy the activities planned as part of the Extended Program.

Preliminary program packets that include registration and housing information will be sent by the Academy in early October. Also included in this mailing will be the Extended Program booklet; Academy members are encouraged to take it home to review. All Academy members automatically will receive a preliminary program packet, but nonmembers can access the home page at www.aaos.org in the >"1999 Annual Meeting" section to request a registration packet. Nonmembers also can contact the Academy's convention and meeting services department at (800) 346-2267, ext. 4178 to request that meeting information be sent to them.
