A new Academy publication, Skeletal Growth and Development: Clinical Issues and Basic Science Advances, is available. Based on a May 1997 workshop sponsored by the Academy, National Institutes of Health and Orthopaedic Research and Education Foundation, the book discusses the latest scientific discoveries about genetic influence on skeletal and synovial joint formation and growth; factors that control skeletal growth plate formation, function and regulation; and biology of disturbances of growth and development. Skeletal Growth and Development defines current clinical issues; offers new treatment approaches; and suggests directions for future research. The book costs $85 for Academy members, resident members and Orthopaedic Research Society members; $105 for all others. To order, contact the Academy's customer service department at (800) 626-6726.
