It's a crisis so severe that many orthopaedists are leaving or limiting their practices, moving to new states or retiring early. To draw attention to the situation, a nine-foot cast was introduced at the state societies' strategy meeting Nov. 15-16 in Rosemont, Ill. Signed by orthopaedic surgeons and other concerned individuals, the cast symbolizes the need for a solution to the broken healthcare system.
The cast will appear at the AAOS Annual Meeting in March and at the National Orthopaedic Leadership Conference this spring in Washington D.C. Be sure to sign it when you see it!
Ads for state and local use, a Web site and a tool kit of liability reform materials - including key message points, letters to the editor, op-eds, medical pitch letters, Q&As and a patient brochure-will be available in mid-December.
Your contribution to the AAOS Medical Liability Campaign can help move our efforts forward.
