Teach-Travel Learn: Volunteer with Orthopaedics Overseas
The American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons, with the Association for the Rational Treatment of Fractures and Orthopaedics Overseas (Health Volunteers Overseas--HVO), will present a comprehensive course on volunteering overseas called "Teach-Travel-Learn: Volunteering with Orthopaedics Overseas." The course will give orthopaedic surgeons a stronger sense of the challenges and opportunities of volunteering and communicating across cultures. It should also prepare them with specific skills for teaching orthopaedics in developing countries. The workshop, which is limited to 65 participants, will be held in Rosemont, Ill., April 23-25, 2004. Registration and information can be obtained at the Health Volunteers Overseas Web site, www.hvousa.org or by contacting HVO directly at (202) 296-0928.
