AAOS lends support to 3-A-Day of Dairy campaign
Subscribing to the slogan 3-A-Day of Dairy, Milk Cheese, Yogurt: Burn more fat, lose weight, AAOS has joined a partnership with the National Dairy Council and other groups, including the American Academy of Pediatrics, to support dairy products' role in weight loss. The new 3-A-Day of Dairy: Burn more fat, lose weight campaign kicked off at the end of August. It is based on growing evidence that dairy products can precipitate weight loss, drawing from findings of a recent study published in Obesity Research. The study found that adults on a reduced-calorie diet who consumed three servings of milk, cheese or yogurt lost significantly more weight and body fat than those who only cut calories while consuming little or no dairy.
The AAOS believes that 3-A-Day of Dairy promotes bone health and should be part of a reduced-calorie weight loss plan.
