Dow alerts public about filing claims

In some of the packets of information the Academy distributed regarding Dow Corning's attempt to alert the public that they can file claims for problems they believe are caused by silicone-based implants manufactured by the corporation, Wright Medical Technology, Inc. was incorrectly associated with the Dow Corning bankruptcy proceedings. Dow Corning (and its former subsidiary Dow Corning Wright) are entirely separate companies from Wright Medical Technology, Inc. The Dow Corning bankruptcy does not in any way implicate Wright Medical Technology's business or its products. Wright Medical Technology, Inc. is an on-going commercial enterprise. Orthopaedic surgeons who would like to receive the revised packet containing background information on the situation can contact the Academy's communications department at (800) 346-2267, ext. 4126. Individuals who believe they might have a claim have until Jan. 15, 1997 to alert Dow Corning. It should be noted that Dow Corning's campaign is intended to reach all potential claimants, even those individuals who might not have a viable claim.
