December 1998 AAOS Report
Join online discussion group on virtual reality
New to the Academy's web site is a discussion group
entitled "Virtual Reality for Orthopaedic Surgeons." "The Academy's
Council on Education formed a task force on virtual reality, and
at one of our meetings we felt there was a good opportunity to get
member input on this topic by having a discussion group on the home page,"
said Jay D. Mabrey, MD, task force chairman and council member. "Currently,
the task force is looking at several ways to create an arthroscopy stimulator.
And, the Committee on Electronic Media Education is looking for ways to teach
musculoskeletal anatomy. So, we are asking members to go to the discussion
group and offer their opinions on what should be the Academy's role in virtual
reality in orthopaedics." The discussion group can be found on the Academy's
web site at www.aaos.org in the "Discussion Groups" section.
