Members needed to build playground

On Tuesday, March 14, one day prior to the opening of the 67th Annual Meeting, in Orlando, Fla., orthopaedic surgeons and their families, state and specialty society members, industry partners, AAOS staff and community volunteers will join forces to build a fully-accessible playground at the Magnolia School which serves children in grades kindergarten through 12th grade who have mental and physical disabilities. Volunteers are needed to help with this project and even one to two hours of your time would be appreciated. Every two hours, buses will travel between the Orange County Convention Center and the playground site. A special ribbon-cutting ceremony, with local officials in attendance, will take place at the end of the day. Building this playground demonstrates the Academy's commitment to its Play It Safe! Playgrounds program, which calls for the prevention of almost a quarter of a million injuries related to playground equipment, surfaces or design seen in hospital emergency rooms each year.
