February 2001 AAOS Report
AAOS volunteers will build safe playground in San Francisco
The safe, accessible playground building program provides an opportunity for AAOS to support playground safety by recruiting volunteers among its membership to help construct a safe and wheelchair-accessible play structure for children in San Francisco. The playground will be built in one day on Tuesday, Feb. 27, 2001-the day before the Annual Meeting-by a coalition of volunteers that includes orthopaedic surgeons and their families, orthopaedic industry partners, state and specialty society representatives, the media and community members. Buses to the playground site at Coyote Point will leave the Moscone Center, at the 'extended program' sign, every two hours, starting at 7:30 a.m. and will leave Coyote Point every two hours, starting at 8:30 a.m. About 150 volunteers have signed up to work at the playground, and more are needed. Visit the Public and Media Information section of the AAOS website, www.aaos.org to add your name to the volunteer roster.
