January 2004 AAOS Report

PEMR still seeking volunteers to build playground in San Francisco

Do you plan to volunteer for the 2004 "Safe, Accessible Playground" project in San Francisco the Tuesday before the Annual Meeting begins? If so, please sign up today!

As part of orthopaedic surgeons' commitment to injury prevention and safety, the Academy has continued to lead by example by building a playground that adheres to the highest safety standards, and is accessible to all children. Volunteer orthopaedic surgeons and their families, orthopaedic partners and organizations, media and community representatives will join together and transform a barren site into a colorful and safe playground. The Alvarado Elementary School, serving public school children in grades K-5 and located a few miles from the Moscone Convention Center, has been chosen as the 2004 site. The success of this event depends on your time and effort; for as many hours as you can, please join your colleagues for a fun day of food, music and playground building

Transportation to and from the site is provided every hour. Visit the AAOS Web site, then click on "Safe accessible playgrounds" to sign up.
