Attend Annual Meeting symposium on 'Combat Orthopaedics'
A symposium on "Combat Orthopaedics: Ongoing Care in the Global War on Terror" will be presented on Thursday, Feb. 24, 2005, from 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at the 72nd AAOS Annual Meeting in Washington, D.C. John V. Ingari, MD, will moderate the session, which will be held in Room 201 of the Washington Convention Center. He will introduce the symposium speakers, including Dana Covey, MD; Theodore Parson, MD; Mark Richardson, MD; William Doukas, MD; Joachim Tenuta, MD; John Chance, MD; and Reagan Parr, MD.
The symposium will cover care on the battlefield and combat support hospitals and air evacuation routes through Landstuhl, Germany, on to Walter Reed Medical Center and finally, the home base of the wounded individual. The symposium will emphasize early irrigation and debridement, with limb stabilization—often using external fixation—in the field, to tertiary procedures performed stateside.
