Project and Position Descriptions
Editors-in-Chief
"Just-in-Time Surgery Online"
"Online Reference and Review"

The American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons seeks two Editors-in-Chief for two new web-based publications recently approved for development by the Academy's Board of Directors. Descriptions of these publications and the Editors' positions are as follows:

"Just-in-Time Surgery Online"

Just-in-Time Surgery Online is a web-based educational program designed to meet the needs of the busy orthopaedic surgeon who wants a quick and convenient way to review a surgical procedure. With the "Just-in-Time Online Surgery" series, orthopaedic surgeons will be able to visit the Academy's Orthopaedic Campus at the www.aaos.org web site and access a surgical refresher/review and resources for further study all in one place. Throughout the audio, text and video demonstrations of procedures, links will be provided to allow the user to access reference information and review material or to review other procedures. The reference material will consist of an organized compilation of journal articles, texts, and monographs. These reference sources will be a part of the Academy's "Online Reference and Review," the second publication approved by the Board of Directors.

"Online Reference and Review"

This basic resource for orthopaedic surgeons will consist of an organized, comprehensive compilation of Academy reference and review materials, new material, and audiovisual features that add interactivity. It will have a clinical focus but will include relevant basic science and anatomy. Any time, night or day, busy orthopaedic surgeons will be able to visit the Academy's Orthopaedic Campus at the www.aaos.org web site and get their online reference and review in all the major areas of orthopaedics.

"Just-in-Time Surgery Online" and "Online Reference and Review" will be linked to each other and to other learning programs on the Academy's web site, such as the online CME courses, the online Journal of the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons, and online examinations. "Online Reference and Review" will also link to Medline and other medical and scientific resources.
