Attend AAOS-sponsored workers’ comp program

Expert Witness: Tips and Insights for the Orthopaedist” is an AAOS half-day afternoon course that will be held in Las Vegas on Oct. 27, 2005. (It precedes the AAOS Workers’ Compensation course. See below.) J. Mark Melhorn, MD, is course director, and the faculty includes Charles Carroll IV, MD; David D. Teuscher, MD; and Paul F. Waldner, JD. The course will help orthopaedic surgeons improve their skills at providing expert witness testimony. The session will involve a series of lectures and discussions to help members prepare for their role as an expert witness in medical liability litigation.

The course will answer a number of questions about expert witness testimony, including how to prepare as an expert and what to do in advance of the deposition or trial testimony. By the end of the course, participants should understand the role of an expert witness and be able to evaluate the literature to ensure evidence-based testimony.

To sign up for the course, call AAOS customer service at (800) 626-6726 or go to www.aaos.org/courses
