Video conference on first practices to be held on Sept. 19
A live interactive video teleconference, "First Practice: Strategies for Success," sponsored by the Academy and seven national medical specialty societies as a project of the Specialty Societies Care Coalition, will be offered to senior residents, orthopaedic surgeons in fellowships and new practitioners on Sept. 19. The teleconference will feature presentations on "The Challenges of Today's Healthcare Marketplace," "Your Search for Practice Opportunities" and "Essential Practice Management Tools and Systems." It provides information on the impact of managed care on career opportunities for young orthopaedists, business strategies needed to locate a practice and how to negotiate service contracts. Before Aug. 15, registration costs $495 per viewing site; after the Aug. 15 deadline, registration costs are $595 per viewing site.
