eMotion exhibit winners announced during Annual Meeting

The "eMotion Pictures: An Exhibition of Orthopaedics in Art" showcases the work of patients and surgeons. During the Annual Meeting, 15 artists received awards at the show, which celebrates the Bone and Joint Decade and includes works by physicians as well as their patients. The 173 pieces on display were chosen by a panel of judges from more than 1,400 submissions by artists representing 11 countries and 33 states. "Best of Show" was awarded to The Giantess by Maria Alos. Presidential Awards went to Adult: Square Wave by Yaacov Agam, and Out There by Daniel Keplinger; Child: Hiding by Benjamin Gabelman; and Surgeon: Pieta by Robert C. Klapper, MD. The COMSS Awards were given to Adult: Next Step by Kurt R. Fross; Child: Wishing This Wasn't a Still Life by Cheryl Reese; and Surgeon: I Wish I Could Have Done More by William R. Loscher, MD. Board of Directors Awards were presented to Adult: Meadow Spray by Nancy Tongue; Child: Towards the Future by Andrew Ray Youngman; Surgeon: Orthopedic Series III: Fracture II by Dumronk Thanachanant, MD. The Board of Councilors Awards were made to Adult: Silenciosos Deseos by Norma Ligia Favela; and Giverny by Ricardo M. Jiménez; Child: The Bone with Cancer, by Gilbert Vallejo; and Surgeon: Where There's a Will… by Jules S. Shapiro, MD.
