OREF celebrates 50 years
The Orthopaedic Education and Research Foundation (OREF) celebrated its 50th anniversary during the AAOS 2005 Annual Meeting. In 1955, leaders of the major professional orthopaedic organizations established OREF as a means of supporting research and building the scientific base of clinical practice. Today, the Foundation raises more than $5 million per year.
OREF raises funds to support research and education on diseases and injuries of bones, joints, nerves and muscles. OREF-funded research enhances clinical care, leading to improved health, increased activity and a better quality of life for patients. The AAOS honors the work and funding that OREF has provided through the years and the partnership of the two organizations.
