Board approves Position Statements on sledding, exercise

Other developments at the Board of Directors meeting in San Francisco included the approval of two Position Statements. The Position Statement on Sledding Safety includes several guidelines recommended by Academy such as sledding in only designated areas free of fixed objects such as trees, posts and fences, and supervision of children by their parents or adults. The Position Statement on the Need for Physical Activity, co-endorsed by the American Geriatrics Society, observes that medical research has proven that people can substantially improve their health and quality of life with moderate physical activity - at least 30 minutes per day on a regular basis.
