CAC sponsors second year of Orthopaedic Learning Center scholarships
The AAOS Corporate Advisory Council (CAC) has renewed its International Scholarship Program for 2003, after a successful debut in 2002. The program's objective is to enable orthopaedic surgeons from less developed nations to participate in Academy Orthopaedic Learning Center surgical skills courses in Rosemont, Ill. Four international orthopaedic surgeons each received a $3,000 scholarship to take part in an OLC course. The scholarship program also provides hospital observerships and pairs scholars with American physician mentors. The AAOS International Committee selected the following surgeons to receive the 2003 CAC scholarships: Chakra Raj Pandy, MD, Nepal; Christian Chukwu, MD, Nigeria; Kirill Redko, MD, Russia; and Taddesse Alemayehu, MD, Ethiopia. The CAC was founded in May 1998 to serve as a forum for the exchange of information of mutual concern to the Academy and the top leaders in the orthopaedic industry.
