Campaign to begin on musculoskeletal research funding

The Academy's Committee of Research, the Academic Orthopaedic Society, Orthopaedic Research Society, and American Orthopaedic Association are seeking the participation of interested practices to enroll in its Patient Advocacy Campaign for Musculoskeletal Research Funding. The campaign was designed to educate patients about the benefits gained from musculoskeletal research such as improved quality of life and lower health care costs. It also will be used to educate patients and members of Congress about the funding needs of musculoskeletal research as well as the importance of the National Institute of Arthritis, Musculoskeletal and Skin Diseases. Practices enrolled in the campaign will receive a desktop display unit and brochures explaining how patients can contact a toll-free phone number to send a letter of support or speak directly with the office of their representative from Congress.
