Ethics video available
A videotape, "Ethical Issues in Orthopaedic Surgery," is available from the Academic Orthopaedic Society (AOS). Developed by AOS members Neil S. Wenger, MD, and Jay R. Lieberman, MD, the video contains 10 brief scenarios of clinical ethical dilemmas relevant to orthopaedic surgeons, including informed consent, royalties and conflicts of interest, difficult patients, care continuity and adverse outcomes and making treatment choices within managed care. The video can be used to review ethical case studies in a classroom setting or as a home study guide. The cost of the video kit which includes a 30-minute videotape and teaching manual is $220.
