November 2001 AAOS Report
OKO goes live 24 hours a day/7 days a week
AAOS's new online resource, Orthopaedic Knowledge Online (OKO), became operational Oct. 15 at www.aaos.org/oko. OKO gives AAOS members instant access to orthopaedic information and current surgical techniques, providing video demonstrations and text-based information on the diagnosis, treatment and management of musculoskeletal disorders. OKO is a free service for all active and emeritus AAOS fellows, candidate members, international members and associate members. A free trial subscription is available to others until Dec. 31, 2001. "This is a huge step forward for AAOS," said Joseph D. Zuckerman, MD, chairman of the Education Council. "It got its start a number of years ago inside the council when Dr. Richard Gelberman was our chair." Dr. Zuckerman paid special tribute to numerous fellows involved in its development, foremost among them, William A. Grana, MD, PhD, and Robert H. Fitzgerald Jr, MD, editors-in-chief, as well as the following section editors: Adult Reconstruction, James B. Benjamin, MD, and William Healy, MD; Foot and Ankle, John S. Gould, MD; General Orthopaedics, Drs. Fitzgerald and Grana; Hand and Wrist, Thomas E. Trumble, MD; Pediatrics, J. Andy Sullivan, MD; Shoulder & Elbow, Louis U. Bigliani, MD; Spine, Harry N. Herkowitz, MD; Sports Medicine, Robert E. Hunter, MD; and Trauma, Thomas A. DeCoster, MD, and Anthony Burgess, MD.
