Jahnigen Career Development program issues RFP
The 2006 Jahnigen Career Development Scholars Awards has issued a Request for Proposals (RFP). The two-year awards support junior faculty who are within 10 years of completing training in the specialties of anesthesiology, emergency medicine, general surgery, gynecology, ophthalmology, orthopaedic surgery, otolaryngology, physical medicine and rehabilitation, thoracic surgery and urology. Jahnigen Awards are administered by the American Geriatric Society and funded by the Atlantic Philanthropies and John A. Hartford Foundation. Each grant will provide $75,000 per year for two years, covering salary and fringe benefits and/or the costs of doing research. In 2005, due to funding guidelines from the supporting foundations, a new requirement was added: Each scholar’s institution now must provide a minimum match of $25,000 per year. Interested physicians can find the RFP posted online at www.americangeriatrics.org/hartford/jahnigen.shtml
The deadline this year for filing applications is Dec. 6, 2005. For more information, e-mail Ellen Baumritter, email@example.com.
