AAOS distributes free public education DVD
A DVD compilation of public education and media relations’ (PEMR) award-winning Public Service Announcements (PSAs), video features and news releases about orthopaedics was distributed free to all AAOS members with the October 2005 AAOS Bulletin.
The DVD—“Public Education for You and Your Patients”—includes several short features on the scope of orthopaedics and the impact that orthopaedic surgeons have on lives beyond the operating room and classroom. The program can be televised in practice reception areas or on computer monitors in exam rooms, using the “Play All” function.
The DVD contains timely public education segments, including “Preventing Osteoporosis” PSAs featuring Joan Rivers, the Academy’s series of PSAs from 2001-2005 and patient stories from the Community Orthopaedic Awareness Program. Segments of the DVD can be directly transferred into PowerPoint presentations.
The PEMR department has several products that you can use in conjunction with the DVD. Most are available at no cost or for shipping and handling charges only. They include posters, postcards and television and radio ads to complement the Joan Rivers’ PSAs; support materials, including resource and tool kits to promote the Bone and Joint Decade, patient safety and injury prevention and a portable Prevent Injuries America! booth.
A brochure on these and other educational outreach products and an order form are included with this issue of AAOS Report. For additional copies, and an order form, contact Pat Julitz by phone at (847) 384-4036 or e-mail firstname.lastname@example.org.
