Professional Compliance Program seeks complete depositions

The Professional Compliance Program encourages fellows and members who have been involved in medical malpractice litigation to submit complete depositions and/or court testimony to the Expert Witness Clearinghouse Project. Orthopaedic expert witness testimony provided either for the plaintiff or the defendant in past matters is a valuable tool for future litigation. AAOS makes available legal documents in their entirety to fellows, members and their attorneys upon appropriate request.

Unlike grievances filed for alleged violations of the Standards of Professionalism, documents submitted to the Expert Witness Clearinghouse Project are not reviewed or evaluated. Instead, AAOS stores the documents according to the name of the expert witness for use in other legal matters. An individual’s past testimony can be useful, for example, in preparing to depose an expert witness or gear up for trial. The words of an orthopaedic expert witness may serve to bolster or impeach the individual in future litigation. Complete depositions and/or court testimony may be submitted in hard copy or electronically. AAOS does not currently charge a fee for providing copies of these legal documents.
