Academy joins educational effort on calcium

Laura L. Tosi, MD, represented the Academy at an Oct. 6 press conference in New York City announcing a new educational program, developed by the National Dairy Council and Milk Processor Education Program (creators of the Milk Mustache advertisement campaign), to educate parents and young children (ages three to five) about the importance of including calcium in their diets to build strong bones and prevent future problems later in life like osteoporosis. The new program "How to Grow a Healthy Child" also received support from the National Institute for Child Health and Human Development. Academy members can request "Milk and Me" brochures for display in their reception rooms by contacting the public service line at (800) WHY-MILK.
