Planning continues for 2001 Annual Meeting in San Francisco
Planning for the 2001 Annual Meeting, which will be held in San Francisco Feb. 28-March 4, has intensified. Registration and housing packets will be mailed in mid-October. Online registration and housing can be obtained at the AAOS website, www.aaos.org. Your ID number is printed on your registration form, and housing information begins on page 44 of the preliminary program. The registration deadline is Jan. 26, 2001, and you can cancel your registration with a full refund until Feb. 2, 2001. On Wednesday, Feb. 28, Deepak Chopra, MD, pioneer of alternative medicine will speak at the spouse/guest program. Tickets can be ordered on the registration form. On Thursday, March 1, David Satcher, MD, U.S. surgeon general, has been invited to speak at two symposiums, one on comprehensive fracture management, and the other, on diversity and cultural competence in orthopaedic practice. On Friday, March 2, Mitch Albom, author of the best selling book, Tuesdays with Morrie, and a nationally syndicated newspaper and TV sports commentator, will speak. Also on March 2, Richard H. Gelberman, MD, will deliver the first vice presidential address. Specialty Society Day will be held on Saturday, March 3.
Symposia, podium/poster presentations, courses, and technical exhibits will be featured at the meeting. AAOS offers residents up to 20 percent discounts in the Resource Center and 50 percent discounts on advance registrations of the Orthopaedic Review Courses.
