PR plans safe playground, notes free consumer presentations on web
Organized by the Public and Media Relations Department, a third annual Safe, Accessible Playground built by volunteer orthopaedic surgeons and their families, orthopaedic industry partners, media and community representatives, will take place in Dallas on Tuesday, Feb. 12-the day before the Annual Meeting begins. This project is a visible reminder of AAOS's commitment to reducing and preventing playground injuries. The sign-up form is available in the Special Events section of the AAOS Annual Meeting web site section, or request through fax-on-demand, (800) 999-2939, document #8003. In addition, five new Powerpoint presentations: "Osteoarthritis and You," "Understanding Osteoporosis," "Understanding Back Pain," "Sports Injuries" and "Prevent Injuries America!" and a "how to" manual are available on both the AAOS web site and CD. The download is free, and there is a modest shipping/handling cost for the CD. The patient videos, incorporated into the Powerpoint presentation, are also available separately on VHS videocassette. Order free posters and postcards from the 2001 Public Service Advertising Campaign.
