71st Annual Meeting sure to enlighten and inspire

The 71st AAOS Annual Meeting, which will be held in San Francisco from March 10-14, 2004, offers learning experiences for a lifetime. A number of special events are planned.

Join the Program Committee on Thursday, March 11, beginning at 7 a.m. for "Breakfast in the Posters." This is a networking event as well as a viewing of the scientific posters. Awards will be presented to the top posters in each of 12 classifications and one to an overall poster award recipient.

Presidential guest speakers this year include Catherine Crier, presenting "Law and Medicine: Prescription for Reform" on Thursday, March 11, at 10:30 a.m. As host of Fox Channel's "The Crier Report," she interviews leading newsmakers and opinion makers of the day. Previously she was an ABC-TV news correspondent.

On Friday, March 12 at 8 a.m., David McCullough, a master of narrative history, will present "History as a Source of Strength." McCullough's work is characterized by its scholarship, insight into American life and literary distinction. His latest best-selling book, John Adams, won the Pulitzer Prize for biography.

The Communication Skills Workshop "The Medical Interview" will provide a series of award-winning interactive sessions, featuring orthopaedic-specific video vignettes, facilitated by orthopaedic surgeons trained at the Bayer Institute. The course fee is $125 in advance and $150 on-site.
