OREF, Ortho Biotech, Inc. offer research grant in blood management
A research grant in blood management, sponsored by the Orthopaedic Research and Education Foundation (OREF) and Ortho Biotech, Inc., will support the role of blood management and treatment of anemia in improving orthopaedic outcomes.
The study will investigate whether the use of Epoetin alfa improves wound healing, reduces complications (morbidity), decreases length of hospital stay and reduces costs. Only orthopaedic surgeons working at U.S. institutions may apply. Applicants may not have received a National Institutes of Health R01 grant or equivalent. The award will be made to an individual only and will not provide for institutional overhead expenses. The principal investigator must be an orthopaedic surgeon. Funds may not be used for salary.
