Volunteers needed for the 2004 playground build
On Tuesday, March 9, one day before the start of the 71st Annual Meeting in San Francisco, orthopaedic surgeons and their families, state and specialty society members, industry partners, AAOS staff and community volunteers will again join forces to build a safe and accessible playground in San Francisco. Volunteers are needed to help with this project, and even one to two hours of your time would be appreciated. Every two hours, buses will travel between the Moscone Center and the playground site. A special ribbon-cutting ceremony, with local officials in attendance, will take place at the end of the day. The playground construction demonstrates the Academy's commitment to safe accessible playgrounds, which could prevent almost a quarter of a million playground equipment, surface or design-related injuries seen in hospital emergency rooms each year.
