Fall elections loom over liability reform campaign
As the fall elections approach, the federal component of the AAOS medical liability reform campaign—Doctors for Medical Liability Reform (DMLR)—is heating up. DMLR has launched a media campaign focused on informing patients about how high medical liability insurance premiums are affecting their access to care. It is airing 28-minute TV news magazines in states with competitive elections, including Washington, North Carolina, South Carolina and Georgia. The news magazines, which urge viewers to call their senators and tell them to support federal medical liability reform legislation, will be running between now and the November elections. The support of AAOS members is crucial to the campaign’s success—it’s not too late to make a contribution to the campaign.
